Jacqueline Kealy Exemplifies Irish Womanhood in the US.

Jacqueline Kealy Exemplifies Irish Womanhood in the US.

Our most recent centerpiece, Jacqueline Keely, stage and movie actress, is the proverbial poster-child for the biggest category of Irish immigrant to the United States: independent, adventurous, talented, optimistic and... female.

Here's a quote from a great documentary, narrated by Liam Neeson among others, Out of Ireland: the Story of Irish Emigration to America

"Of all the immigrant groups that flooded into the country in the late 1800s, the Irish were the only ones in which women outnumbered men."

In our episode with Jacqueline, we touch upon this phenomenon, and offer an explanation as to why.

Indeed, we'd be interested to know if any other immigrant groups have a similar profile? If you have any such knowledge, please get in touch.
